E-manage Ultimate Hardware
Versions
Updated August 8th 2007
You may have heard about the e-manage ultimate ignition chip coming loose on some units, after reading many mailing lists and forums, I started this page to clear some misinformation on this issue, First I will start with the e-manage ultimate versions that hit the USA market,
From my experience selling the e-manage ultimate, I came to the understanding that greddy made 5 versions of the e-manage ultimate hardware to date, they are identified by the alphabetical letter printed on the board near the 14-pin male white male harness, example,
Version A - I have not seen this version, it could have been a pre production version.
Version B - This is the first version to hit the USA market in July of 2005, I think it started at serial #1000 to #2999. This version is easily identified by the the white cloth that covers the chips near the 'Active' led light, they were covered because they came too close to the housing rail, I haven't seen any of these units knock out the ignition chip, it could have happened to some users, but I haven't see it personally happen on this serial range. there are many pictures of this board Here.
Version C - I think it came out late 2005/early 2006, this version had a hardware change in the same area where the white cloth use to be, they moved the chips further back so they don't make contact with the housing anymore, I believe this version had serial #2000 to #4999, in this version I have seen the the cases of the ignition chip being knocked off,
I want to point out that if the engine suddenly doesn't want to start (when the ignition harness is used), most likely the ignition chip got knocked out while the e-manage ultimate board was being installed by the user into its housing,
Neglect in inserting the board into its housing carefully will cause the chip to be knocked out of its board,
This chip is a buffer input stage from the cars ignition...its marked "TD508AK 62503F".
According to the data sheet of this chip, "7ch SINGLE DRIVER (COMMON EMITTER)"
Repaired in this picture, you can solider it in carefully by yourself (will lose warranty), or GReddy will if you still have the chip, Contact the GReddy dealer that you bought your unit from and see what they can do for you...
Version D - first seen in June 2006, this version I believe started at serial #5000, it got new hardware changes, actually it have so many changes that I can't count them all, there are many parts that got moved around, and there are some new parts added, the most noticeable change is the new locations of the jumpers, greddy manual includes a sheet that shows the new locations, see this picture,
There is also noticeable clear and shiny substance under & over the chip that usually gets knocked off, I think its a type of glue to give the chip more strength to stay in place.
Click on this pictures to see many pictures on version D & B side by side,
Version E - first seen in January 2007, didn't make it to the USA market till July/August 2007, this version I believe started at serial #7000, and as far as #11000++.
There are several positive improvement that I noticed, the ignition chip is finally relocated to a new safe position, see this picture,
They added one new pin, older versions had 20 pins, total is 21 pins in version E
